Saul is widely recognised and respected as an economist and forthright public commentator.

Saul was the Chief Economist of ANZ from 1995 to 2009.

He is currently a member of the Federal Government's National Housing Supply Council, Chair of the Tasmanian Arts Advisory Board, and a non-executive director of Hydro Tasmania

Saul has an honours degree in Economics from the University of Tasmania, and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment.
